Health Ministry: 1,576 new cases, two fatalities bring death toll to 1,225

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,576 Covid-19 cases on Friday (March 19), taking the country’s total confirmed infections to 330,042.

For the first time, Sarawak was the state with the highest number of new cases, with 407 new infections and Selangor was second with 348.

In total, 11 were imported infections and the rest local transmissions.

There were two new fatalities, bringing the country’s death toll up to 1,225.

In the same 24-hour period, 1,996 patients were discharged which means 314,457 people nationwide have recovered from the disease.

The number of active cases went down to 14,360, with 151 patients under intensive care and 57 requiring ventilator support.
