Covid-19: S'wak receives 4,680 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine

SIBU: Sarawak has received a third shipment of 4,680 doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine on Wednesday (March 10).

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the vaccine arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Wednesday night.

Dr Sim stressed that with the latest arrival of the vaccine, the state would act fast to immunise the people.

"Sarawak is ready to do (the vaccination process) as fast, as soon and as much as possible. Just allocate us more vaccines, especially in the outbreak districts," he said in a Facebook post.

He said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah and himself had a good Zoom meeting with Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, where they requested for more vaccines.

On Feb 24, the state received the first shipment with 23,400 doses and another 31,500 doses in the second shipment of the same vaccine.

The fourth shipment (4,680 doses) is expected to arrive on March 17, while the fifth (14,040 doses) is expected on March 31.
