Umno's stand to work together with Bersatu in Sabah govt is welcome, says Ronald Kiandee

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Sabah welcomes and appreciates Umno's stand to continue working together in the state government, says Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

The Bersatu vice-president said Umno’s stand on this matter to continue working closely with Bersatu via the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is in line with their struggle and will to work towards political stability.

“Our nation needs a form of political stability that will help us tackle bigger issues which are the nation’s economy and development, ” he said in a statement here, Sunday (March 7).

Kiandee said this after Bersatu Sabah chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also Chief Minister, said that the cooperation and relation between Sabah Bersatu and Umno were strong and unaffected by what was happening at the national level.

Hajiji’s statement comes amid political talk of realignment between members of the nine parties in GRS which consist of Sabah Perikatan (comprising Bersatu, Sabah STAR, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and PAS), Sabah Barisan Nasional (comprising Sabah Umno, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Sabah MCA and Sabah MIC) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

Kiandee said the people have put their hopes on stability and hope for a better future for this nation.

Therefore, Umno’s stand on working together with their GRS partners especially Umno was very much welcomed, he said.

The Agriculture and Food Industries Minister also said that Sabah Umno’s stand and spirit must also be extended to the national level for a stronger political partnership.

“We need this strong collaboration to face the coming general election, ” he said.

Kiandee said that the last state election which saw the Parti Warisan Sabah-led state government defeated was a sign that the people want new and stable political alignments that promised progress for the people.
