Two fined RM1,000 each for violating EMCO in Sibu

SIBU: Two men have been fined RM1,000 each for violating the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) here on Tuesday (March 2).

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a 34-years old unemployed man and a 36-year old labourer were caught loitering outside a mosque in Phase Two Sentosa Resettlement Scheme at 5.30pm.

"As the area is under EMCO from Feb 27 to March 12, they should be at home," he said.

ACP Stanley added the duo could not provide a valid reason to the EMCO task force team to be there.

They were fined under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 1988.
