Teen arrested for alleged break-in at restaurant in Kulai


KULAI: A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly breaking into a restaurant at Taman Kulai Permai here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said a 38-year-old restaurant owner noticed that his shop had been broken into at about noon on Sunday (Feb 28).

“He found that the restaurant was ransacked. He later reported that cash and valuables worth RM7,000 were missing.

"A police team was dispatched to investigate the case. The suspect was detained at the Temenggong flats in Indahpura, ” he said in a statement here on Monday (March 1).

Supt Tok said the suspect was believed to have broken into the restaurant with another accomplice named "Satish" who is still at large.

The detained suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and had five prior cases involving drugs. He has been remanded until March 7.

The case is investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years.
