PETALING JAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is on a two-day official visit to Brunei from today to further enhance post-Covid-19 cooperation to benefit the people of both countries.

Wisma Putra said the visit would be held in full compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedure put in place by the governments of both countries.

Hishammuddin is scheduled to have an audience with Brunei Ruler Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

This will be preceded by a meeting with Brunei Foreign Minister II Datuk Seri Setia Erywan Mohd Yusof.

In a statement yesterday, Wisma Putra said both countries were expected to take stock of the progress of their bilateral cooperation and further strengthen their special relations.

“Both sides are also expected to discuss issues deliberated at bilateral mechanisms including Malaysia-Brunei Annual Leaders’ Consultation, cooperation in the oil and gas sector, progress relating to Malaysia-Brunei land boundary as well as Brunei’s chairmanship of Asean in 2021, ” it said.

Wisma Putra also said the visit was to honour an invitation extended by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
