Wisma Putra: Hisham to make three-day official visit to Brunei

PETALING JAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein will make an official visit to Bandar Seri Begawan from Sunday (Feb 28) to Monday (March 1) to further enhance post Covid-19 cooperation to benefit the people of Malaysia and Brunei.

Wisma Putra said that the visit would be held in full compliance with Covid-19 SOP put in place by the governments of both countries.

Hishammuddin is scheduled to have an audience with Brunei ruler Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The audience will be preceded by a meeting with Brunei Foreign Minister II, Datuk Seri Setia Erywan Mohd Yusof.

Wisma Putra said both countries are also expected to take stock of the progress of ongoing bilateral cooperation which will further strengthen the existing special relations shared between Malaysia and Brunei.

"Both sides are also expected to discuss issues deliberated at bilateral mechanisms including the Malaysia-Brunei Annual Leaders' Consultation, cooperation in the oil and gas sector, progress relating to the Malaysia-Brunei land boundary as well as Brunei's Chairmanship of Asean in 2021," it said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 27).

Wisma Putra also said the visit was to honour the invitation extended by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah earlier this year.
