NIBONG TEBAL: A hillside forest with an estimated area of 1.2ha in Pulau Aman has caught fire.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department’s fire operations and safety officer Nafis Ariff Abdullah said the department received a distress call at around 4.15pm Wednesday (Feb 24).
“When the Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene, they found that there was a fire in the hillside forest, with an estimated area of 1.2ha.
“Our firefighters started extinguishing work using a fire extinguisher and made a 'fire break' at the scene.
“Extinguishing work is still ongoing as of 5.15pm, ” he said in a statement.
Pulau Aman is a low-population island near Batu Kawan in south Seberang Prai, which is also a famous fishing village.
