GEORGE TOWN: A thick sediment of black, broken down organic matter is what’s causing Sungai Pinang’s flow to appear black during the dry season, says state environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh.
He said the river, which has become an indicator of water pollution generated by the densely populated city, also faces geographic conditions that give it the temporary appearance of blackness.
