PETALING JAYA: A company selling IT hardware in Shah Alam has become the first company to be charged for promoting android TV boxes that can receive illegal streaming of copyright contents.
According to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, the company’s director was charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Monday under Section 41(1)(ha) of the Copyright Act 1987 for selling technologies or devices for the purpose of bypassing technological protection measures mentioned in subsection 36A (3) of the same Act.
