MELAKA: As Chinese New Year draw near, the iconic Jonker Walk is enveloped in pin-drop silence for the first time in its 21-year history of holding boisterous penultimate Lunar New Year events.

Jonker Walk management deputy chairman Datuk Gan Tian Loo said normally at this time of the year, thousands of revellers would have started packing the shops and stalls along the night market for last-minute CNY shopping.
