MCO violation: Three caught for hanging out by the pool

BUTTERWORTH: Police caught three men who violated the MCO by hanging out by the pool of a condominium in Bukit Mertajam on Monday (Feb 1).

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said the men, aged 20 to 41, were caught after the condominium’s security guard lodged a report over the incident.

“The men were seen in a viral video on WhatsApp gathering by the poolside.

“They were asked to leave the area by a security guard but one of them refused and challenged the security guard to lodge a report with the police to look for him at his unit.

“One of the security guards later lodged a report, ” he said, adding that the men were then traced to their unit in the condominium.

“They are being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) for gathering in a public space and failing to adhere to the SOPs by not wearing face masks properly.
