Association chairman nabbed for allegedly impersonating cop

KAJANG: A 40-year-old chairman of an association has been detained here for allegedly impersonating a policeman.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the man was detained on Friday (Jan 29).

"A senior police officer from the Kajang police headquarters received WhatsApp messages showing a picture and video of a few individuals posing as policemen. A police report was lodged," he said on Sunday (Jan 31).

An investigation was opened and the suspect was subsequently detained, he added.

"The suspect was also the person depicted in the photo and video, which has since gone viral," said ACP Zaid, adding that he had been remanded until Monday (Feb 1).

"We are still tracking down the other association members.

"Anyone with information on the viral photo and video should contact the nearest police station as soon as possible," ACP Zaid said.
