PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong briefed Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on two major projects under the purview of the Transport Ministry on Tuesday (Jan 26).
Dr Wee said that the King was briefed on the latest development of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project and Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) rail upgrade project, adding that the briefing was done virtually.
"We will take all the input given by His Majesty for the interest of the people and the country especially in the development of the transport and logistic industry," said Dr Wee on Facebook on Tuesday.
The civil works of the ECRL have been undertaken since 2017 and are to run through 2026.
Meanwhile, the phase 2 of the KVDT project (KVDT 2) is one of the 101 projects costing a total of RM6.61bil, which was recently revealed in Parliament as having been given out by the previous Pakatan Harapan government through direct negotiations.
Dr Wee had previously said that the Cabinet had agreed to reopen the tender for KVDT 2, cancelling the earlier contract via direct negotiation following recent revelations in Parliament.
