Cyclist breaks leg, escapes more serious injuries after falling into ravine

GEORGE TOWN: A cyclist escaped serious injuries after he fell into a pass in a hilly area near Setia Triangle in Bayan Lepas on Sunday (Jan 24).

Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Rohaizal Abd Aziz said in the 10am incident, the victim was cycling along an off-road trail when he fell 6m down the hill.

"The victim, who is in his 30s, suffered a broken right leg due to the incident," he said.

Rohaizal said a team of four firemen was rushed from Bayan Baru fire station to the scene.

He said a stretcher was used to bring the victim off the hill.

He said the firemen took about 20 minute to bring down the victim.

He added the victim has been sent to Penang Hospital for treatment.

The operation ended at about 11am.
