PETALING JAYA: As the number of politicians infected with Covid-19 continues to rise, Terengganu Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and his wife Toh Puan Sri Norliza Mahmud are now the latest to test positive of the virus.
The matter was announced by the Kemaman Umno division in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jan 19).
According to the Facebook post, it said the former Terengganu mentri besar and his wife are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
“Let us together pray for the recovery of YB Datuk Seri and his wife, ” it said.
Ahmad’s positive screening came following a flurry of Covid-19 cases involving politicians with Umno’s National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique and Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz testing positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
Malaysia has seen four-digit daily Covid-19 cases in the recent weeks, and since Jan 14, the number of cases has remained above the 3,000 figure.
The highest number of daily cases reported was 4,029 on Jan 16. Malaysia recorded 3,631 new cases on Tuesday.
