Civil servants and pensioners warned not to flout MCO

KUALA LUMPUR: Stern action will be taken against any civil servant who violates the standard operating procedure of the movement control order, warns the Chief Secretary to the Government.

Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali reminded the 1.6-million strong civil service workforce that legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the SOP, including civil servants.

“If they violate the procedures, they will be punished accordingly, ” he said.He said every decision made and implemented by the government was to break the chain of transmission following a drastic increase in the number of positive cases of late.

Recently, Cuepacs president Adnan Mat also said civil servants and government retirees could lose their privileges if found guilty of violating the MCO.

He said no one would escape legal action, including civil servants and pensioners.Currently, the MCO is being enforced in seven states, namely Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Sabah, Kelantan and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan until Jan 26.

In Sarawak, it is implemented in Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit until Jan 26. — Bernama
