Six nabbed over JB grocery store robbery


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested six people including a woman over alleged involvement in a robbery case at a grocery store in Ulu Tiram here.

Seri Alam acting OCPD Deputy Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the robbery took place on Friday (Jan 15) at around 6am.

“The suspects robbed a 22-year-old male of his personal belongings and also caused injury to his head, ” he said in a statement here on Monday (Jan 18).

He added that following an investigation, police launched a series of raids at four houses in Taman Desa Tebrau, Masai and Pasir Gudang on Monday between 1am and 6am.

DSP Shahrulanuar said police recovered two mobile phones belonging to the victim as well as clothes used by the suspects during the robbery.

He added police seized a motorcycle, which was reported stolen in Seri Alam on Friday, from the suspects.

DSP Shahrulanuar said all of the suspects tested positive for drugs and checks also reveal they have previous criminal records.

“Two of the suspects are also wanted for a drug case, ” he said.
