PUTRAJAYA: The organiser of a free giveaway of frozen chickens has been slapped with a compound for breaching Covid-19 SOP.
Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fadzil Ali said it received information on the event, which was held recently and caused a traffic jam in the city.
Police, he said, later told the organiser that such an event did not have police approval as Putrajaya was currently under the movement control order.
“The programme was conducted via a drive-through system on a first come, first served basis.
“It caused a traffic congestion due to crowds at the location, ” he said when contacted yesterday.
Checks by the police, said ACP Mohd Fadzil, showed that the programme participants and organiser had failed to practise physical distancing.
“We will not compromise with any individual in enforcing the law throughout the MCO period.
“We advise the public to adhere to the SOP as our main goal is to stop the spread of Covid-19, ” he said.
He urged those with information or inquiries to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.
