Fuel prices from Jan 16-22 up three to five sen per litre

PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices will increase across the board from Jan 16 to Jan 22, says the Finance Ministry.

It said that RON97 petrol would be priced at RM2.19 per litre, up by five sen from RM2.14 per litre previously.

The price of RON95 will also increase by five sen from RM1.84 per litre to RM1.89 per litre, while the price of diesel will increase by three sen from RM2.02 per litre to RM2.05 per litre.

"The government will continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people," the ministry said in a statement on Friday (Jan 15).

The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5, 2019, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
