GEORGE TOWN (Bernama): Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng was present at the Northeast district police headquarters here to give his statement over remarks made by him in 2019.
Lim said he was asked to give his statement over two press releases he made in 2019 to police officers from Bukit Aman even though it was during the movement control order.
The DAP secretary-general questioned why he was called to give his statement during MCO.
Accompanied by lawyers R.S.N Rayer and Ramkarpal Singh, he arrived at the police headquarters at about 2.30pm Thursday (Jan 14), and left almost two hours later.
Lim, who was former Penang chief minister, should have given his statement on the investigation on Dec 24. However, it was cancelled after disputing the timing being just one day before Christmas.
Earlier, Northeast police chief ACP Soffian Santong, when contacted, confirmed Lim was present but he declined to elaborate.
"Yes, he was present (to give a statement)...investigation was conducted by a team from Bukit Aman,” he said. - Bernama
