JOHOR BARU: A bout of heavy rain and strong winds caused a huge tree to fall and damage three houses in Taman Century Garden here Tuesday (Jan 12).
Larkin assemblyman Datuk Mohd Izhar Ahmad said the incident took place at around 11.30am Tuesday (Jan 12) and he visited the scene after receiving complaints from the residents.
“Strong winds caused the tree in front of a futsal court on Jalan Landak Kawan here to topple and hit the houses, causing a power outage along the whole row of houses.
“The fallen tree also damaged the gates, front doors and roofs of three houses. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident, ” he said.
Izhar, also the Johor Investment, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperative and Human Resource Committee chairman, also thanked Tenaga Nasional Bhd for their quick action in reviving the electric supply in the area within hours.
He added that the tree and debris were cleared by the Johor Baru City Council by 8pm Tuesday.
