KOTA KINABALU: Public transport in the state is only allowed to operate within a district during the current movement control order, says Sabah Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board.
Its chairman Datuk Chin Kim Hiung (pic) said that there was still some confusion among inter-district public transport operators over whether they could still provide services outside the district.
"Public transport providers can only operate from 5am to 9pm within their respective districts and they must observe social distancing and other SOP to stop the spread of Covid-19.
"Public buses and school buses are only allowed 50% of their passenger capacity at any one time while taxis and e-hailing services are allowed to take two passengers at any one time.
“All inter-district public transport like express buses are not allowed during the two-week MCO that began on Wednesday," he said.
Chin urged all public transport operators to observe the SOP in their operations to assist the government's efforts to check the spread of Covid-19 spread.
