PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,985 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (Jan 13), says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also reported four new Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the country’s death toll to 563.

There were 994 patients who recovered and were discharged, which means the total number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 in the country is 111,578.

Active cases in the country now stand at 32,377.
In total, Malaysia has recorded 144,518 Covid-19 cases.
Currently, 197 people are being treated at intensive care units, with 79 of them requiring ventilator support.
Four of Wednesday’s new cases were imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.
Selangor again recorded the highest increase of the day out of all states with 837 new cases, or 28.0% of the country’s total.
The state is followed by Johor with 535 or 17.9% of cases, and Sabah with 450 cases (15.1%).
The number of cases reported in the remaining states are as follows:
Kuala Lumpur (289 cases), Sarawak (166), Pahang (143), Negri Sembilan (106), Penang (105), Kedah (97), Kelantan (85), Melaka (72), Perak (61), Terengganu (27), Putrajaya (11) and Perlis (1).
Labuan reported zero cases.
There are 296 new cases reported from prison and detention centre clusters, which is about 9.9% of Wednesday’s tally.
On the four deaths on Wednesday, Dr Noor Hisham said three were in Sabah and one in Johor.
One of the victims is a 19-year-old foreign woman, who was a dead-on-arrival case at the Papar Hospital in Sabah.
The woman had a history of anemia disease.
