BUKIT MERTAJAM: Centralised counters at the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) headquarters in Bandar Perda here will be closed from Wednesday (Jan 13) until Sunday (Jan 17) after one of its vendors tested positive for Covid-19.
Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the person, who tested positive on Tuesday (Jan 12), is not a staff of MBSP and has last visited the counters on Jan 6.
"We decided to close all the counters immediately after being informed so that sanitisation work can be done thoroughly.
"An average of between 600 to 1,000 people have visited the counters on a daily basis since the end of December 2020.
"However, we urge the public not to worry as all standard operating procedures (SOPs) were strictly adhered to," he said on Tuesday.
The counters will resume operations next Monday.
Those who wish to make their payments can still do so online via its website at www.mbsp.gov.my.
