PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is scheduled to make a special address on the MCO at 6pm Monday (Jan 11).

The address is expected to inform the country on the latest measures to be imposed by the government following the recent spike of Covid-19 cases.

The address will be shown live on television channels RTM, BernamaTV, TV3 and Astro Awani.

It will also be broadcast live on Muhyiddin’s official Facebook page.

Malaysia has recorded more than 135,000 cases of Covid-19 so far, with more than 2,000 daily cases recorded in the past six days.

It also breached the 3,000 daily cases mark on Jan 7 for the first time.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has warned that the number of daily Covid-19 cases could reach 8,000 a day in March if the infectivity rate – known as the R-naught (R0) – stayed at 1.2.
