PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,232 more Covid-19 infections on Monday (Jan 11), bringing the country’s tally to 138,224.
Four people also died due to the coronavirus, raising Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll to 555.
The country also discharged 1,006 Covid-19 patients, which means 109,115 people have recovered.

The number of people with active Covid-19 infections in Malaysia has gone up to 28,554.
Currently, 187 patients are in intensive care, with 87 requiring ventilator support.
In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said six of Monday’s cases were imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.
Selangor recorded the highest increase of the day out of all states with 557 new cases, or 25% of the country’s total.
“Out of Selangor’s total, 404 or 72.5% of the state’s cases are detected from infection clusters and close contacts of positive cases, ” said Dr Noor Hisham.

Selangor is followed by Johor with 396 or 17.7% of cases, and Sabah with 374 cases (16.8%).
The number of cases reported in the remaining states are as follows:
Kuala Lumpur (204 cases), Sarawak (153), Penang (112), Negri Sembilan (102), Kelantan (95), Perak (51), Pahang (46), Terengganu (41), Kedah (40), Melaka (37), Putrajaya (13), Labuan (8), Perlis (3).
There are 194 new cases reported from prison and detention centre clusters, which is about 8.7% of Monday’s tally.
On the four deaths on Monday, Dr Noor Hisham said three were in Selangor and one in Sabah - all aged between 47 and 56.
