Food delivery rider dies after hitting pothole

PETALING JAYA: A food delivery rider died when he fell off his motorcycle after hitting a pothole.

The accident at 1.15pm yesterday was the second fatality from an accident involving a pothole within the Klang Valley this week.

The accident occurred near Mutiara Damansara when the rider was at a traffic light along Jalan PJU 7/2.

“The 31-year-old rider hit a pothole and lost control of his vehicle. He then fell onto the road.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem will be conducted after the result of a Covid-19 test is out, ” said Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal in a statement yesterday. On Sunday, a similar accident near Mid Valley led to the death of a 75-year-old motorcyclist.

The Works Ministry has given its commitment to fix potholes on federal roads within 24 hours of a complaint after the issue went viral.

This came after Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin hit a pothole and crashed during a cycling trip in Banting, Selangor, on Dec 27.
