Elderly woman killed, husband injured in head-on collision in JB

JOHOR BARU: A 71-year-old woman died while her husband sustained injuries after their car collided with another vehicle at an intersection along Jalan Danau 4 in Taman Desa Cemerlang here.

Seri Alam acting OCPD Deputy Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident occurred at about 7.30am on Friday (Jan 1).

“It was drizzling during the incident when a 21-year-old man’s car collided with the couple’s vehicle as they were heading out from the intersection.

“The collision caused the woman to suffer serious injuries on her chest and she died while receiving treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), ” he said in a statement here.

He added that the victim’s husband, 72, suffered a broken right leg while the 21-year-old driver was unharmed.

DSP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat urged those with information on the case to come forward to the nearest police station or call the IPD Seri Alam Hotline at 07–386 4222.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
