‘Be brave and fight,' Najib tells Umno grassroots

PETALING JAYA: “Be brave and fight,” urged former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic) in his message to Umno grassroots as branch and division meetings take place nationwide beginning Friday (Jan 1).

In a Facebook video, the former Umno president said the leadership of Umno grassroots must take the opportunity to decide on the direction of the party during the meetings and voice out their opinions against the enemies within.

Najib said although some leaders have claimed that Umno “died” after the last general election, the party is still standing tall and the grassroots leaders must remember those who said so then.

"From the grassroots to the leadership, much has happened this year with Umno’s cooperation with Barisan Nasional, Muafakat Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.

"The branch and division meetings provide an opportunity for the grassroots to decide on the direction of the party - with whom, how and why?

"Umno does not belong to any individual or leader. Lawan tetap lawan. Hidup Umno! (Keep fighting, Long live Umno!)," said Najib.

He did not exactly specify what Umno grassroots should fight against.

For three days beginning Friday, Umno branches and divisions nationwide will hold meetings in preparation for the annual general meeting later this year.
