Prerogative of Perak Ruler whether to appoint PAS reps as exco members, says Tuan Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: It is the prerogative of Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah whether to appoint PAS assemblymen as exco members, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The PAS deputy president said the political turmoil issue in Perak was resolved when PAS, Bersatu and Umno agreed to maintain consensus and support the appointment of Datuk Saarani Mohamad as Mentri Besar.

Tuan Ibrahim said the appointment of the five current exco members will enable the Perak government to function, adding that there will certainly be an increase in the exco line-up.

"We will submit fully to the wisdom of the Ruler to make the appointments.

"PAS sees the most important issue is the mutual agreement in resolving the Perak crisis. The question of PAS assemblymen being appointed as exco members or not, is the right of the Sultan of Perak.

"PAS assents to whatever is right in the view of the Ruler because we are confident that the stability of the government is his priority," Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement on Friday (Dec 11).

Tuan Ibrahim added that to manage such a crisis requires its own space with limited time.

"In such a situation, it is not surprising if there are misunderstandings, misinformation, and interested parties who will take advantage of the situation," he said.

Tuan Ibrahim however said with the patience of all parties, the issue was resolved, adding that it did not take a long time.

"Now is the time to look forward to continue developing the state, safeguarding the welfare of the people and strengthening political consensus," he said.
