PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry is looking into ways to help army veterans who have contributed to the nation, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

This comes after the Transport Minister received a visit from Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) chairman Jen (Rt) Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin.

“We discussed at length various matters and current issues including effective ways that the Transport Ministry can help former soldiers who had contributed greatly to the country.

“I can give my guarantee to the LTAT chairman that the Transport Ministry is always prepared to help LTAT in whatever circumstances, ” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 3).

He added that the meeting was a productive one, describing Jen Zahidi as someone who was “rational, humble and gentlemanly”.

“There were many things I have learned from the LTAT chairman in this meeting. The Transport Ministry will continue to foster a close relationship with the LTAT to protect the interests of former soldiers, ” he said.

Also present was ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak.
