MIRI: Three persons, including a small child, suffered injuries when the car they were in plunged into a ravine near Bintulu town in northern Sarawak on Wednesday (Dec 2).

The small girl and a woman passenger were rescued by passers-by in the incident around 9pm, but the male driver was trapped in his seat.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said in its updates that the incident happened along the road leading to the Bintulu Mara complex in the outskirts of the town.

The Bintulu Fire and Rescue team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call from the public.

"Members of the public who saw the incident pulled out the small girl and woman from the car.

"The male driver was trapped in his seat.

"Our Bomba team used rescue tools to free him.

"All three were rushed to the Bintulu Hospital in a semi-conscious state," said the department.
