Seberang Prai City council worker tests positive for Covid-19

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A staff member of the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) has tested positive for Covid-19.

In confirming this, MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud (pic) said the employee has been admitted to the hospital on Tuesday (Dec 1) and was confirmed to have contracted the disease the following day.

"The worker, who is based in the headquarters, was on duty on Nov 25 during the period from Nov 18 to Dec 2.

"As a precaution, we have identified all staff and officers who have been in close contact, to work from home," he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 3).

Rozali said several departments at the headquarters and the Kampung Jawa Landscape Department has been directed to shut down temporarily for sanitisation exercise.

He urge the public not to worry as the MBSP operations at the centralised counter would operate as usual.

"The situation is under control and we are adhering to all the stipulated standard operating procedures," he said.

However, Rozali encouraged the public to use its online services for payment and other transactions.

There are more than 100 online services provided at the MBSP cyber counter at its website.
