Subsidy programme saves 3.3 million from losing jobs

KUALA LUMPUR: The wage subsidy programme (WSP) has managed to save more than 3.3 million employees from losing their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

“This programme managed to secure jobs of more than 3.3 million workers. With the extension of the WSP 2.0 until the end of December, it will be able to benefit more employers and employees, ” he said in a written reply to Hassan Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang), who asked the ministry to state the number of companies which benefited from the WSP and how effective it was in preventing job losses and the shutting down of companies.
