KUALA LUMPUR: An eight-year-old boy, who was reported missing near Setapak Jaya flats, was actually with his biological father.
The boy had been staying with his 57-year-old foster father at the Setapak Jaya flats.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail said the foster father realised that the boy was missing on Tuesday (Dec 1), and attempted to search for him nearby.
"However, when that failed, he lodged a police report at a nearby police station.
"A Nur Alert was also issued," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Dec 2).
Further investigation revealed that the boy was actually with his biological father, he added.
"There was a misunderstanding between the foster father and the biological father.
"Checks revealed that the boy is healthy and did not suffer any injury," he said.
Supt Rajab said the boy has been brought to the Wangsa Maju police headquarters.
"We have recorded the statements of all involved, including the child.
"The boy was then handed over to the foster father," he said.
Supt Rajab urged the public not to speculate on the incident.
"We are thankful for the cooperation of all parties that contributed to the matter being resolved," he added.
