ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 111 people, including 36 police officers and 71 police personnel from the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters, have been placed under quarantine after a police inspector tested positive for Covid-19.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar was absent during a launching event here on Wednesday (Dec 2), as the latter was under quarantine.
“There has been one case of Covid-19 infection at Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters involving an inspector after he came into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
“As a safety measure and based on the suggestion from the Health Ministry, we have ordered 36 officers, 71 personnel, one civil servant, and three family members to undergo quarantine starting Nov 30 until their swab test results are out, ” he said during a press conference after the launching ceremony of the Children and Teenagers Crime Awareness Module (Mekar) here.
He added that officers and personnel from the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters have also been ordered to replace those who have been ordered to undergo quarantine.
“This is to ensure our police work go on as usual to monitor public safety, ” he said.
