Covid-19: Over half of new cases in Sabah on Saturday (Nov 28) from new, existing clusters, says Masidi


KOTA KINABALU: More than half of the 476 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Saturday (Nov 28) in Sabah came from four new clusters and seven existing clusters, says Datuk Masidi Manjun.

The state Local Government and Housing Minister said the 11 clusters accounted for 258 new cases or 54.2% from the total new cases.

"The four new clusters today are Jesselton cluster in Kota Kinabalu involving 44 construction workers.

"Two new clusters were identified in Sandakan, namely the PTS Sibuga cluster involving the Sibuga temporary detention centre (99 cases) and the Dermaga cluster following screenings at Sandakan port (17 cases).

"Another new cluster was recorded in Kota Belud district called the Tempasuk cluster with seven cases linked to a funeral ceremony," he said Saturday.

Four fatalities were recorded on Saturday - two in Sandakan, and one each in Tawau and Tuaran.

As of Saturday, cumulative cases in Sabah stand at 28,155, and 24,793 have recovered while 2,094 are still undergoing treatment.
