GEORGE TOWN: An attempt to smuggle 8,400 packets of seeds worth almost RM145,000 without a valid import permit into the country was thwarted by enforcement officers at the Penang International Airport on Friday (Nov 27).
Penang Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) director Zarina Ramli said the seizure was done after officers conducting an inspection at the cargo complex found six packages containing various types of seeds from India, China and the Netherlands.
