KUALA LUMPUR: The government welcomes cooperation with Thailand to tighten security at the Malaysia-Thailand border following recent attacks on Malaysian security forces, says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"We thank the Thai authorities and we welcome their cooperation," said the Defence Minister during his daily briefing on Friday (Nov 27).
Ismail Sabri said he had also instructed the Malaysian Armed Forces Chief to discuss with the police and other security agencies to improve security at the Malaysia-Thai border.
"We will see what is needed there, be it additional personnel or assets. The military is ready for any action, including establishing posts at the border.
"There is also an issue that fences have been damaged by smugglers and this must be rectified," he said.
