KOTA KINABALU: A teenager was rescued after she jumped off a bridge in Sembulan near here on Wednesday (Nov 25).
Firemen at the scene managed to rescue her in the 1.30pm incident at the Sembulan river.
The 15-year-old had earlier gone to the bridge and had been lingering there for a while, attracting the attention of passersby who called the authorities for help in their concern.
Kota Kinabalu fire and rescue operations officer Jamaludin Hussin said firemen tried to talk her out of jumping off the bridge but she did it anyway five minutes after.
“Several firemen who were already in the river immediately caught the girl, thus saving her life, ” he said.
She was taken to land and given a brief counselling and preliminary treatment before being taken to the hospital.
Jamaludin said operations ended at about 2.23pm.
