MIRI: Preparations for the 12th Sarawak state election must go on despite the worsening bad weather, says Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

Preparations of election manpower and logistics needs are already in full swing as time is running out for these preparations to be done, he said Saturday (Nov 21).

Ngau, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu youth chief for Baram in northern Sarawak, said the bad weather cannot derail the election preparations.

"The state election can still be called at any time now, so we must be fully ready.

"The bad weather is something we must deal with and heavy rain and floods are problems we have to face.

"They will happen even if we delay the state polls to next year as even in June we can still have floods as the weather patterns have changed," he said.

Ngau was asked if the current incessant rain in the interior is affecting his pre-election preparations.

He said the bad road conditions and flash floods have made travelling very difficult but these cannot derail his party's preparations.

Ngau is a second-term assemblyman. The Sarawak Legislative Assembly's term will expire on June 8 next year.
