Teen missing after falling into Skudai river

KULAI: The Bandar Baru Kulai Fire and Rescue Department has launched a search-and-rescue (SAR) operation to locate an 18-year-old teenager who is believed to have fallen into a river at Jalan Berkat, Kampung Jaya Sepakat in Senai here.

Its operations commander Mohd Fauzi Awang said that the department received a distress call at about 2.38pm on Thursday (Nov 19) and dispatched 10 personnel to the location, along with a Water Rescue Unit.

“The victim is identified as Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, who is believed to have fallen into the Skudai river.

“We are currently conducting operations on the river, ” he said when contacted here later Thursday.

At the time of writing, the SAR operation has covered about 1km of the river from where the victim is believed to have fallen.
