PETALING JAYA: Former Tampin MP Datuk Mokhtar Hashim passed away at Ampang Hospital on Wednesday (Nov 18) at the age of 78.
His remains will be brought to the Taman Tun Dr Ismail mosque, prior to burial at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery.
His nephew Ahmad Hafiz Abdul Raffar, in a Facebook post, said Mokhtar died at 3.10am.
"Details on the arrangement for funeral prayers and burial will be announced later. Let’s all pray for his soul to be blessed and placed among the faithful and righteous servants of Allah,” he told Bernama.
Mokhtar was elected the Rembau-Tampin Member of Parliament in a by-election in 1972 before going on to win the Tampin parliamentary seat in the 1974 and 1978 general elections.He was Parliamentary Secretary to the Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry from 1972 to 1974, Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister (1974-1976), Deputy Agriculture Minister (1976), Deputy Foreign Minister (1977) and Culture, Youth and Sports Minister (1981-1983). - Bernama
