Serdang cops bust gambling den hidden within arcade in shopping centre

SERDANG: A gambling den with an arcade as its front was busted by the police in a shopping centre here.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said the arcade had 60 machines but 14 of these were used for gambling.

He added that 25 arrests were made, including the two storekeepers, during the raid at 7.50pm on Wednesday (Nov 11).

He said gamblers would purchase tokens for play and any winnings would be registered on a redemption card.

Those who wanted to redeem their winnings had to do it inside the toilet, he said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 12).

Police also seized one token dispensing machine, 14 gambling computers and 207 redemption cards.

He also said Serdang police raided 19 locations during anti-gambling operations.

A total of 88 people were arrested, including 48 foreigners. Out of the total arrests, 48 were caught for online gambling.
