PETALING JAYA: The police have took action against 536 individuals for flouting the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) imposed to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Defence Minister said the bulk of the offences (527) on Tuesday (Nov 10) were slapped with compounds, while eight were remanded, and another released on bail.

He said the public kept flouting the SOPs imposed despite warnings issued daily.

The offences include failure to observe the 1m physical distancing (153), failure to wear masks in public areas (134), failure to record personal details of patrons at business premises (107), crossing conditional MCO districts and states without permission (40), operating beyond permitted business hours (37), and engaging in entertainment activities (eight).

He said Ops Benteng also saw the arrest of 31 illegal migrants and five human traffickers on Tuesday.
