PETALING JAYA: The RM40mil operating expenditure for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has been included as one of the items in Budget 2021, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president said DAP parliamentarians who brought up the issue could raise any questions they had with the Finance Ministry and the Higher Education Ministry in Parliament.
“The ministers will surely give a more satisfactory answer than the one given by the former finance minister last year,” Dr Wee said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 8).
He said that DAP had alleged that it was untrue that TAR UC had received RM40mil in operating expenditure in the latest Budget, on the basis that it was not stated black-and-white in the Budget.
Dr Wee said that in Budget 2019, TAR UC received a development allocation of RM5.5mil, while in Budget 2020, it received a development allocation of RM1mil.
“Where is the RM40mil allocation as claimed by Pakatan Harapan?” said Dr Wee.
He said that RM30mil of the alleged RM40mil allocation for TAR UC was announced by former finance minister Lim Guan Eng during the Tanjung Piai by-election, while another RM10mil was announced after Pakatan Harapan had lost in the by-election.
“So, since when did this RM40mil allocation appear in the Budget in black and white?” said Dr Wee.
