Body of 62-year-old woman found in condo after firefighters break down door

GEORGE TOWN: The body of a 62-year-old woman was found in a condominium in Relau here Saturday (Nov 7).

Penang Fire and Rescue Department fire operations and safety officer Nafis Ariff Abdullah said they received a distress call at around 2.45pm Saturday.

"When the Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene, they received information from the victim's child that the victim was not contactable for several days and the door was locked.

“Police were at the scene and the firefighters broke down the door using a rescue tool," he said.

Nafis added that the victim's body was found inside the house and she is believed to have been dead for several days.

“The woman's body was handed over to the police for further action.

“The operation ended at around 3.40pm, ” he said.
