BUTTERWORTH: A group of volunteers are determined to show prisoners and staff in the Penang and Jawi prisons here that they are not forgotten by society. As Deepavali draws near, 40 volunteers and their families are looking to bring festive cheer to prisoners and staff at both prisons which are under the enhanced movement control (MCO) by making 4,000 packets of muruku.

The volunteers came together to make and pack the muruku over a three-day period beginning last Friday at Sree Mariamman Hall here in Jalan Mengkuang.
