KOTA KINABALU: Security forces in the east coast have stepped up operations against illegal immigrants trying to slip into Sabah via backdoor routes amid rising cases of Covid-19 in the state.

Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Commander Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Fuad said operations were focused on the Kalabakan area along the east coast bordering Indonesia’s Kalimantan.
